Beyond the Print Button: How to Verify Additive Manufacturing G-Code

For anyone diving into 3D printing and additive manufacturing, the journey from a digital 3D model (like an STL or STEP file) to a physical object relies entirely on a translation process. That translator is the slicer, and the language it speaks is G-code.

G-code is the raw set of instructions that tells your printer everything: nozzle temperatures, print speeds, fan percentages, and precise coordinate movements ($X, Y, Z$). While modern slicers are remarkably smart, blindly sending a freshly generated file to a multi-thousand-dollar machine—or even a desktop hobbyist printer—is a recipe for clogged nozzles, spaghetti monsters, or mechanical collisions.
